The most chilling film that I have ever seen dealing with the Auschwitz holocaust. I'm still reeling from it. It's a completely different film from Schindler's List which portrayed what happened inside the camp. This film does not show what happened inside the camp. Instead, you hear and see what does from the safe confines of the adjacent quarters belonging to the SS Commandant Rudolph Hoss ( Not Hess) Hoss was instrumental in orchestrating Zyklon B, the gas which killed millions of Jews and the anti-clockwork design of the ovens in which to incinerate Jews in one oven whilst the opposite oven was cooling down to load more future victims, thus proving cost effective. The loving, animal and flower friendly Nazi family go about their daily business blocking out the screaming and gunshots from the adjacent camp. Every night you see the flames from the furnaces ravaging the night sky whilst they plan a fun trip to a spa in Italy, the washing on the line is caked in ash, much to the annoyance of the wife. I saw this fantastic film today featuring Thomasin McKenzie and the sublime Anne Hathaway. It is a slow burner thriller and will throw you off where the story wants to go with great glee. The last fifteen minutes is a head f*** but definitely worth a watch. Both leads happily wear tights too in the film which is a great bonus for me.😉

I am truly buzzing on a cinematic high from watching Steve McQueen (The epitome of cool) and the gorgeous Ali Macgraw in a Sam Peckinpah, violent, shoot-out movie. Cinematic Heaven indeed. If only I could have a pair or worn tights that could smell as good as that high?

Kleo - Go and binge watch this seriously addictive eight part series on Netflix. It is the German equivalent of Killing Eve but much funnier. It starts of in East Germany in 1987. A GDR assassin is sent into the west to assassinate a target and becomes imprisoned as a result. Once she is released due to the fall of the Berlin Wall and German unification, she seeks answers to why she was incarcerated and the body count rises. Binge watch heaven. 😇

I have seen 132 films at the cinema this year so far, none have disturbed me more than Nope. Jordan Peele is a first class director. I don't want to give spoilers away but the indesgestion scene will stay inside your head for days. It is sickening.

I just saw this amazing film Where The Crawdads Sing at the cinema. Daisy Edgar Jones is sensational as Kyra - The Marsh girl accused of murder in 1969 to a local, popular boy who had been paying attention to her. I read the book a good few months ago and it was riviting. The film adaptation does it justice. Beautiful cinematography too and Taylor Swift's haunting song "Caroline" sets the mood perfectly. I lost myself in this film and I didn't want it to end.

I saw this fantastic film at my local Curzon cinema yesterday. An Italian film about a close nit family whose father is obviously into something dodgy. He loves all three of his daughters but he has a certain affinity for his middle daughter who is fifteen years old. When he has to go into hiding as a mafia fugitive, his daughter demands to know answers and has to make a choice whether to embrace her Mafia family lifestyle and code of conducts or choosing a new life offered by the Italian Social welfare network that deals with offering a new, crime free life for offspring of Mafioso children. Beautifully acted and a wonderful film. A slow burner, yes, but it pays off. Go see, please.

RIP James Caan. His wonderful performance as the first born, hot-headed son of Vito Corleone in The Godfather was legendary. His death scene at the toll booth is one of the most memorable cinematic death scenes of all time. Badda-Bing, Badda-Boom!

I had the pleasure of seeing Baz Luhrmann's new biopic Elvis today. It exceeded all expectations. Austin Butler is phenomenal as Presley. He came on to my radar playing a small part as one of Mason's disciples in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. This film will launch him into the stratosphere. If he doesn't get an Oscar for this then there is no justice. He played it beautifully. He didn't play Elvis like a characture that all the impersonators do. The curled lip, "Aha, thank you very much! “ He played Elvis like a fish out of water, lonely and totally perplexed why history came knocking on his door and launched him into the history books. Go and see immediately.

This film is easily the most graphic film that I have seen at the cinema. It easily surpasses Nymphomaniac Volumes 1 & 2. This film depicts an unflinching look at the world of professional pornography and one Swedish girl's dream of becoming the next big name in porn. It is very sexually explicit but not in an erotic way. It is a master class in film making in what these girls go through on a porn shoot. Rope burns, anal pain, douche packs and physical and mental endurance are highlighted to perfection. This is a very visceral experience and should be seen by everybody expecting an easy ride. The higher the girl rises through the porn industry, the more she loses her humanity and her soul. She becomes a vapid substitute for a human. A Clockwork Orange so to speak.

I just saw a wonderful Nordic horror film today called The Innocents. Four young children who live on a council estate have a strong telekinetic connection when together. It starts off with moving bottle tops with the mind. It gradually upgrades to far more sinister targets with devastating results. This is not a slasher film. This a slow burner sense of dread horror that delivers when you least expect it. Fantastic acting from the very young cast. They are to be applauded. It is a wonderful thriller. Go see, please. X

In my opinion Lt. Columbo was the greatest detective ever, even surpassing Poirot and Marple. They dealt with the little grey cells and deductive reasoning. Columbo solved crimes by observation. He would notice every detail laid in front of him and he wore his crumpled raincoat as a work asset. A shield to hide his intellectual mind. He had a wonderful knack of appearing forgetful and constantly persistent to wear the murderers down to reveal themselves. There has never been a detective like him, an everyman, a family man and a cop who refuses to carry a gun. Scuffed shoes, a love of dogs and cinema and you have a brilliant, devious mind to trap criminals

First look at Margot Robbie as Barbie in the upcoming Barbie movie. I hope there is a gratuitous sex scene with Crystal Ken!! 😆😆

I saw this at the Curzon Bloomsbury yesterday and was absolutely blown away by it. It is the story of a young academic teenage girl who falls pregnant during late 1950's France and seeks out an illegal abortionist. Christ, this film goes way beyond Vera Drake and even the self abortion scene on Nymphomaniac Part 2. This is unflinching horror of what a young girl had to go through at the time which could easily resulted in death by bleach and knitting needles. I'd was essential but horrendous viewing. X

West Side Story 2021 is the best film I have seen this year at the cinema. Trust me, I go to the cinema a minimum of four times a week. This version is better than the original and that is saying something. Riff is phenomenal. The gym dance scene is off the scale. The art department, the costume designer are on another level.

I have just seen one of the most brutal films about the treatment of women ever committed to celluloid. This film is based on a true story of a innocent woman in Iran who was stoned to death in 1986. It is harrowing beyond belief how her husband plotted to have her stoned under the false accusation of adultery so that he could marry a fourteen year old girl. They had four children together yet this still took place. The stoning scene itself is horrific yet this film must be seen.

So Kiera Knightley is refusing to film sex scenes anymore with a male director because of a gaze issue. Does she realise that once her sex scene is out in the medium then it will be freeze framed, paused and wanked over by not just males but females? If you are that concerned Kiera, keep your knickers on honey or sell them to me instead. 😆
