The New Seller Struggle: Chasing That First Sale

When you first sign up as a seller, it’s easy to imagine that the hard part will be creating your profile, taking photos, writing listings, and putting yourself out there. You think once everything is live, the views will come, the messages will start, and eventually the first sale will happen. But what people don’t always talk about is the strange waiting period after that.

The profile is up. The listings are live. The inbox has had a few messages. You’re logging in every day. You’re making changes, taking advice, trying to improve.

And still… no sale.

That first sale can feel like a mountain.

The Overthinking Begins

When you’re a new seller, it’s so easy to start questioning absolutely everything.

Is it because I’m anonymous?

Am I too hidden? Do buyers want more of a connection than I’m giving? I want to protect my privacy, but I also understand that buyers want to feel like there’s a real person behind the profile. Finding that balance is harder than I expected.

Then I wonder if it’s my photos.

Do I need to upload sexier pictures?

Am I not showing enough? I see other sellers who seem much more confident and revealing, and I start comparing myself. But at the same time, I have boundaries. I don’t want to feel pressured into doing anything I’m not comfortable with just to make a sale.

Then comes the pricing panic.

Are my prices too high? Too low?

Do I look inexperienced if I discount things? Do buyers assume cheaper means less genuine? Or do they avoid new sellers unless the price is low enough to take a chance?

And of course, the biggest question of all:

Is the platform just oversaturated?

There are so many beautiful, confident, established sellers with reviews, regular buyers, and polished profiles. As a new seller, it can feel like you’re standing in a very crowded room, quietly hoping someone notices you.

Views Without Sales

One of the most frustrating parts is seeing that people are looking. You get profile views. You get listing views. Sometimes you get favourites. So you know people are seeing you.

But views don’t always turn into buyers.

That can mess with your confidence. You start wondering what made someone click away. Was the description wrong? Were the photos not good enough? Did they find someone cheaper? Did they not trust me because I don’t have reviews yet?

It becomes a loop of checking, adjusting, refreshing, and hoping.

Trying to Build Trust With No Reviews

Trust is everything on platforms like All Things Worn. Buyers want to know they’re dealing with someone genuine, reliable, and discreet. But as a new seller, building trust before your first sale feels like a bit of a catch-22. Buyers may want reviews before they buy, but you need buyers before you can get reviews.

So you try to show trust in other ways.

You write clear listings.
You explain your boundaries.
You reply politely.
You stay active.
You keep your profile updated.
You offer discounts.
You consider custom requests.
You try to sound friendly without sounding desperate.

But until someone takes that first chance, you’re still waiting for that proof that you’re a trusted seller.

The Time Waster Problem

Then there are the messages. At first, every message feels exciting. You think, “Maybe this is it. Maybe this will be my first sale.”

You reply quickly. You’re polite. You answer questions. You explain what you offer.

And then comes the request to go off-platform.

Or they want endless chatting with no intention of buying. Or they ask for things outside your boundaries. Or they disappear as soon as payment is mentioned. Or they try to get free attention, free photos, or free conversation.

It’s disappointing, especially when you’re genuinely trying to do everything properly.

As a new seller, you want to be approachable. You don’t want to seem rude or cold. But you also quickly learn that your time and energy matter too. Not every message is a potential sale, and not everyone who shows interest is actually a buyer.

Being Online All the Time

Another part that people might not realise is how much effort goes into staying active. I’m online every day, often multiple times a day. I check messages. I update listings. I look at what’s working. I read advice. I make little changes. I try to keep my profile visible and active.

It can feel like you’re doing a lot of invisible work.

From the outside, maybe it looks like you just upload a few listings and wait. But behind the scenes, there’s a lot of thought, effort, and self-doubt.

You’re not just selling an item. You’re trying to create trust, build a profile, understand the platform, learn what buyers want, and protect your own boundaries at the same time.

Staying Anonymous While Trying to Stand Out

For me, anonymity is important. I want to sell discreetly. I want to feel safe. I want to protect my personal life. But I also know that being anonymous can make it harder to stand out.

That’s where the pressure starts creeping in.

Should I show more?

Should I be bolder?

Should I change my style?

Should I do what other sellers seem to be doing?

But I keep reminding myself that boundaries are not a weakness. Being anonymous doesn’t mean I’m not genuine. It just means I’m careful, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

The right buyer will respect that.

The Emotional Side Nobody Mentions

I didn’t expect the emotional side of it. The little bit of excitement when someone views your profile. The hope when a message comes in. The disappointment when it goes nowhere. The self-doubt after another day with no sale. The temptation to change everything about your approach.

It can be a confidence knock, even when you know logically that new sellers often take time to get started.

You start wondering whether you’re doing something wrong, even when you’re doing everything you can.

What I’m Learning

I’m learning that the first sale may take time. I’m learning that not every view means interest, and not every message means a buyer. I’m learning that being active matters, but so does patience. I’m learning that boundaries are important, especially when people try to push you off-platform or ask for more than you’re comfortable giving.

I’m learning that it’s okay to be anonymous and still be genuine. Most of all, I’m learning that starting out is hard, but it doesn’t mean I should give up.

To Buyers Reading This

If you’re a genuine buyer looking at a new seller’s profile, remember that everyone starts somewhere. That first sale means a lot. Not just because of the money, but because it helps build confidence, trust, and momentum.

New sellers may not have reviews yet, but many of us are putting in real effort. We’re showing up, replying, learning, improving, and trying to create a good experience while still staying safe and within our boundaries.

So if you see a new seller you’re curious about, send a genuine message. Ask respectful questions. Stay on-platform. And if you decide to buy, know that you might be helping someone finally get over that first big hurdle.

Final Thoughts

The new seller struggle is real. It’s logging in every day and hoping today is the day. It’s questioning your photos, your prices, your profile, and your privacy. It’s dealing with time wasters while trying to stay positive. It’s wanting to be trusted before you’ve had the chance to prove yourself.

But it’s also about learning, growing, and finding your place.

I may still be waiting for my first sale, but I’m still here. I’m still trying. I’m still showing up.

And hopefully, that first genuine buyer is just around the corner.

TeleTubby @Kay_x Top comment! the site relies on subs and you'll be less likely to sub to a site where as a new seller even making back your initial sub could be a struggle. So many join up with a 3 or 6 month sub and drop out in the first month. It's sad the see the enthusiasm wane and the posts drop off. Behind that profile is someone who probably needed money more than most and is left feeling like a failure. In reality she was sold a pipedream.

StellasSultryStash @MissJaide That is so relatable from a more established perspective. It absolutely deserves the time of day. Maybe it got deleted because they have very new voices who say that it's tough, they can't have people who have been here a while also saying it's tough also. It might give the impression there are other problems site wide rather than with each seller. Maybe that's the reason 🤷

I have a handful of great regulars & if it weren’t for them I’d never make any s@les at all over the last few months. Hornyhousehusband Interesting and well thought out blog. My thoughts are: (1) the Buyer perspective section - the risk of losing money to shady operators is enormous these days, for various reasons. New sellers in the loop of “no reviews ➡️ nobody trusts ➡️ nobody wants to risk it” may need to consider Kc payment which isn’t an instant cash out. (2) the crowded room point - very valid. I’m aware of 2 girls who had over 500 reviews delete and come back. Both are really struggling to get back to their former standing. (3) whoever said comparison is a thief is spot on. I mean 98% of all the things for sale here are the same. So how do you differentiate? Or is it a case of accepting that there is a buyer for every seller, but the dash is so crowded with reposts and crap buyer ramblings it is impossible to find. Persistence, patience, and a lot of luck is needed!

StellasSultryStash Oop. Did I nearly miss another insightful blog written from a highly experienced selle- oh wait. I'M (half) JOKING. I am glad the discussion has primarily been focused on the fact it's fucking hard work to be grafting day in, and day out because this is not easy. On your time, your ego, or your self-esteem sometimes. My first sale was feet and I charged £20. That same buyer came back recently and asked for 5 for that price. The only consistent thing here... is you. Your prices, your attitude, your graft, your standards. I am a non-nude, faceless seller and yet I feel a lot of you perverts know me, my vibe, and my values better than most. Why? Because I put it on the dash. And while that thing gives me whiplash sometimes, its how people see you. In a perfect world, buyers would like posts (but they don't because they get inundated with messages) and would message right away. But in reality, they sit and watch that dash roll, check out the ones who keep showing up, and pick their moment. I struggled with not measuring up so much at the beginning (and now tbh). Should I show face? Should I show nip? Crack but no hole? Ultimately, whatever I decided was determined by what I could offer. And most of what I can offer has nothing to do with the cream in my knickers or the size of my ass. My brain, heart, and filthy mind is what sells for me, and I refuse to let any of that be underappreciated because of the current climate. So my two pennies are: not another newbie (fml), but the discussion is on point. #SellersSupportingSellers is vital to keep going. And we all have our kinks, there are more than enough to go around. And @HeWolf72? You can mansplain this to me anytime you like... preferably between my legs 😉 Thanks for always speaking up for sellers. Your track record is exceptional, pup 💋

I wasn’t prepared for the waiting, the overthinking, or how emotional it can be. VioletDarkling Just had a gander at this. Yes it’s very well written and something that will resonate with new sellers as well as what it was like for most at the start. I can’t see most of the comments as I’ve been 🚫 by a few 😂 which goes to show even if you haven’t spoken to a buyer or seller you aren’t everyone’s cup of tea! It’s a hard slog on here with a lot of issues that aren’t being dealt or addressed. It does feel like a kick in the teeth to see a blog up from a seller that hasn’t got any reviews or been on here long as well as seemingly stepping away, just because there’s a hell of a lot of sellers that are patiently waiting to have theirs up. Reviews are not everything, I have had buyers share their experiences with some very well established and highly reviewed/loved sellers and it doesn’t reflect what is portrayed on the surface. Don’t worry nothing too personal! I get told all the time you must be booked up you are stunning but infact I am finding it harder now than I did when I joined 3 years ago. It’s an over saturated market with sellers actively sending free content to buyers daily! Low balling, and a place that is more of a popularity contest than a selling place. I love the community and the ladies that get me through my dark days! Whether you are new or an og you can still feel feel over looked and invisible 🫥

Nowadays women can have top careers so don't need hard working partner to provide for them. For example my good looking cousin is unemployed and has had many girlfriends and sex partners.

Droux Best Advice to New Sellers - ATW IS a panty selling site. BUT Buyers usually buy wears from people they feel connected to 👀 How does one connect? Services 🤝🏻 I have been continually booked for 1 month in advance with wear bookings BUT this is from regular Buyers of other services and kinks and fetishes first. They have experienced live calls, coffeeshops, dick reviews, IC, or have grown a connection throughout my time on ATW. Without those connections, Wears ARE hard to sell. You need to Sell YOU, before you can sell Panties 🖤🤝🏻

How is anyone meant to find you and see what you have to offer if you’re not putting your self out there…this blog was good but we need to be showing off our personality, I get it in the beginning it’s hard to make sales, there are weeks where I make 0 and feel like sh!t, so I take some time to myself, regroup and come back refreshed and ready to start again

Kinks_and_curves My advice! Don't force anything, be you and you'll naturally attract , yes it's hard to stand out it always will be cos there are untold sellers here but be as present as possible, do research , do polls and think outside the box

This floods the place with "low effort" sellers who think they are going to be pied pipers calling here piggy piggy and they will make bank before they have their nails painted

MissCataleya Reading comments took me way morr time than reading this blog 😅 I've said it to many new ladies on here - patience, time and ABSOLUTELY HUGE AMOUNT OF EFFORT. It is the whole process and there will be good and bad weeks with sales. If you want to be sucessful here (like for the most in real life too), you need to work your ass off

SweetSins160 @Gussetgoblin I agree. I have a lot of buyers that seem very cocky about reviews. Like come back when you get more reviews, when you get more reviews, let me know. There’s a high chance I will never message you and I will never sell to you for that reason I love the people who decide to take a chance on somebody, we all start somewhere even the buyers. I know a lot of buyers who would love to have a review that doesn’t mean anything because every interaction is different. Every relationship is different. Everybody wants different stuff and that is probably the thing I struggled with for the first two months I had joined years ago. Heck now I get a lot of messages to raise my prices, but I try to stay affordable for other people. 💕

Kinks_and_curves I think it's so hard to want to make an effort when you're undercut or the dash is at times toxic , I try and try and honestly even I'm at the point where I think just look after yourself because it's exhausting trying to spread positivity when it's overshadowed by the latest drama . A lot of it here is attitude, because people think it's easy or everyone is a paypig they get pissy when it's not the case , I blame these misleading videos and articles and yes the guides because they sell a false hood . The blunt reality is this isn't for everyone, if you don't wanna work hard and be original and educate yourself you'll soon get bored , the lack of education and understanding is very obvious at times and I find it irritating and I'm not buying

Kay_x If any new sellers need tips, my inbox is always open ❤️ I didn’t get a sale for a month. However, this seller only posted around 30 times in the space of a 3 month per1od & most were re-listings. I do think it’s hard when you see a site like this & think it’s easy money. It’s not. It is a full time (plus overtime) job to become successful. This isn’t a dig at anyone, it’s just not a path paved with gold. This seller also hasn’t posted for a month. You reap what you sow. You have to graft your arse off on here.

Kinks_and_curves So personally I don't give two shiny whatever's about how this blog come about! I do think admin need to manage what gets posted but I digress , I care more about discussion on topics that are highlighted

Kinks_and_curves The first sale can be tricky and it's made trickier by mitigating factors that are now more rife (unfortunately) than ever such as the ripping off of, the exchanging stuff for reviews, the sometimes competitive language and behaviour. I personally think that when it's quiet here it's worse because people will lower their value just to make a sale or just to have a number . The other issue is research and education around kink and selling , these flipping guides and videos online make it seem easy when it certainly is not! This place has changed loads and it's making it harder to sell let alone make a first sale ! I say stick with it cos the genuine ones will absolutely recognise effort and appreciate you and you build much better and healthier relationships when you just be yourself and let stuff flow. Yes there are unfortunately people who let others down even with a high review number and the AI thing is out of control but again plenty still want that genuine touch . Don't lower to gain numbers or a place on a leader board or to get a review or first review , maybe do some taster listings or instant content for £5 so a voice taster for example . I'm gonna say something that'll annoy people I'm sure but the issue is when enough people lower their prices , stroke egos for free and what not people won't wanna buy cos it's served to them ! Oh and as for countless chat don't allow it, instead make a listing or ask for tips again anyone who respects you will do it ! Holding firm is hard but worth it

TeleTubby @DominAdoratriZ I think @HeWolf72 point was that there are established sellers here who have tried to get blogs accepted and failed yet new sellers who often aren't even premium seem to be able to get them published. This blog basicay says "selling is hard, I gave up" IMO it has some value but could be demoralising too for new sellers as its not a "success" story

I’ve been told I’m too expensive by some, but then I’ve had buyers who are working with me so many multiple times and spending significant amounts of money, I am genuinely blown away by their investment in me - it’s all so personal. Expensive to one person is completely reasonable to another. That’s fine. And you’re also right - it’s not a competition. Community over competition is always where I land. Ranking sellers by percentages doesn’t help with that though 👀😂

TeleTubby I try to make a purchase from a new seller once or twice a month who I feel is trying. A minimum order of £5 for a pic or two. Sometimes these are not even explicit depending on what the seller is comfortable with. In most cases you then have to guide them through process of setting up am order etc. Most sellers are happy to accept a small order to start but I've had a few where they are miffed and say their minimum order is £20. I think this blog has value in that it dispels the myth that selling is easy. Every successful seller here works their ass off to make sales. Sure some have regulars but these need to be nurtured too and the income depends on your regulars economic circumstances.

For me his is a luxury and I feel like out prices should reflect this. I also personally believe low pricing isn't beneficial to anyone in the long run. I just increased my prices again and think just like everything goes up we should as well. Keep killing it beautiful lady. 💕 We have to remember quantity of reviews doesn't always equal quality. Also it's not a competition. We are all amazing! ✨

Cbabiiixxx As a new seller also (1month) I’ve lost countless sleep and fell behind on a lot. But the determination, the perseverance and the strength keeps me going!!! I KNOW I CAN do this. I WILL do this no matter how long it takes me. I suppose you have to look at it through the bigger picture. There’s thousands if not millions of sellers on here all selling the same or similar things. Be different. Be you. Stand out. What makes you unique to any other seller on here?? LanaLovall @Autumn_Angel I think the not starting with low prices thing is what stifled my start on ATW. It was so slow and difficult to get started! I’ve always priced my items fairly after researching the market a bit, but it definitely did not do my sales any favours in the beginning. Sticking to my prices has paid off well, I personally think it’s annoying when any business tries to woo people with low prices and then hikes them up after a while - but each to their own I guess. It would not feel good to me to do that. I am actually considering increasing my prices right now. I think it’s great that these blogs generate discussion about these topics as everyone benefits from healthy debate!

I understand why so many new sellers do though as it's super challenging to get reviews early on. And with AI, I'm referring to people playing off that images are of themselves when they are clearly AI. I don't think it's right and it you're going to do so then just state it in your profile. 😊

We all start by selling cheaper. And then more expensive. It’s not the price but the quality! And with ai yes I use ai and many of us use it when we are lazy to pose for a listing. Not body ai or face but posters. To be honest personally I won’t buy from sellers that hide behind an ai picture! But I’m not a buyer! X

Autumn_Angel @MissVelvetBound It's also easy to have 300+ reviews when you're selling $10 panties and basically giving content away for free. I also see sellers using AI photos with 100's of reviews so I genuinely don't think you can go off of reviews alone.

As you say, there are blogs from more experienced Sellers who aren't being published, so I question the direction the site is heading in and why these voices are viewed as being more worthy of being heard.

The ammount of times I cried my eyes out and rebranded and changed and added and tried my best! So yeah it’s hard but I hope they don’t drag us all down. ItsRuby @Sassykay100 I think what he means is that there’s sellers who writes blog who have been onsite longer, has more experience with buyers, has more reviews and their blogs don’t get published. Where as a new seller who has no replies and no sales, their blog gets published. ☺️ it’s not aimed directly at the seller herself.

Credit where credit is due - that makes it an honest representation of the current state of the marketplace, whether or not she should have offered her advice before making a sale 😂😂🤣🤣.
