Seller Tips For Sellers Motivational Balancing Motherhood and Selling on ATW: My Journey as a First-Time Mum

Becoming a first-time mum changed everything. This is an honest look at how I rediscovered myself — and earned extra income — by selling on All Things Worn (ATW).

Becoming a first-time mum is one of life’s biggest transitions. Nothing can truly prepare you for the sleepless nights, the constant feeds, the overwhelming love, or the way your world suddenly revolves around this tiny little person. At the same time, becoming a mum often makes you rethink who you are outside of motherhood. For me, part of that rediscovery has come through selling on All Things Worn (ATW) — a platform that not only gave me a creative outlet, but also an income stream I could manage from home.

In this post, I want to share my honest journey of juggling the demands of motherhood while building a presence on ATW.

The Early Days of Motherhood

When my baby arrived, my days and nights blurred together. Feeding, rocking, changing, and learning how to soothe a newborn left little room for much else. Like many new mums, I felt a mix of joy and exhaustion. On the one hand, I loved soaking up every cuddle and milestone. On the other, I craved something that felt like “me” again — something beyond nappies, bottles, and nursery rhymes.

That’s when I stumbled across ATW. I’d heard about it before but never thought of it as something I could do. But as the weeks went by and I settled into a routine, the idea of creating an account and exploring what I could sell started to feel exciting.

Why I Chose ATW

ATW appealed to me because it offered flexibility. As a first-time mum, my schedule is unpredictable — nap times vary, teething nights happen, and babies have their own rhythm. I needed something I could dip in and out of without pressure.

The platform also gave me a sense of ownership. It was something I could build for myself, even in the smallest windows of time. While some people use ATW as a full-time business, I approached it as a side project that worked around my baby’s needs.

And let’s be honest — motherhood can sometimes feel isolating. Having a place to connect with others, showcase my creativity, and earn along the way was a welcome boost to my confidence.

Finding Balance Between Mum Life and Selling

Balancing ATW with motherhood hasn’t always been easy. At first, I tried to squeeze in too much — replying to messages at 3 AM or stressing over creating listings when I was already exhausted. Over time, I’ve learned a few strategies that helped me find balance:

  1. Nap time = Work time. Instead of using every nap to clean or scroll, I set aside at least one nap a day for ATW. Even 20 minutes can be enough to update listings or respond to buyers.
  2. Batching content. I create multiple listings at once when I have energy, then post them gradually. This stopped me from feeling like I had to constantly “perform.”
  3. Setting boundaries. I no longer check messages in the middle of the night — buyers can wait a few hours. My sleep is precious.
  4. Involving my routine. I tie small ATW tasks into daily rituals. After the baby’s bedtime I give myself 30 focused minutes for ATW before winding down.

The Benefits Beyond Money

Of course, the extra income helps — babies grow fast and costs add up. But selling on ATW has given me more than cash:

  • Confidence boost: Motherhood can make you feel like you’ve lost touch with yourself. Having a place to express personality reminded me I’m still me.
  • Community: The ATW space feels supportive — connecting with like-minded sellers encouraged me to keep going.
  • Independence: Building something on my terms felt empowering, even if only in small pockets of time.

The Challenges No One Talks About

It wouldn’t be fair to paint a perfect picture. There are challenges. Time is the biggest one — some days motherhood leaves me drained and ATW has to take a back seat. There’s also the learning curve of figuring out what works on the platform, from creating engaging listings to keeping buyers happy.

And then there’s mum guilt. Sometimes I worry that spending even a little time on ATW takes away from my baby. I remind myself that nurturing my own identity makes me a better mum in the long run.

My Advice for Other Mums

If you’re a first-time mum considering selling on ATW, here’s what helped me:

  • Start small. Don’t pressure yourself — even one listing is progress.
  • Be kind to yourself. Some days ATW will thrive; other days motherhood must come first.
  • Use your unique story. Authenticity resonates with buyers — your journey as a mum can set you apart.
  • Celebrate the wins. Every sale and connection counts — big or small.

Final Thoughts

Motherhood changes everything, but it doesn’t mean you have to lose yourself. Selling on ATW has been more than a way to make money — it’s helped me reconnect with who I am, and build something flexible alongside my new role as a mum.

If you’re a first-time mum feeling like you want “something more” while still being fully present for your little one, ATW might be the perfect place to start.

Because at the end of the day: being a mum is about balance — finding joy in the small things, carving out time for yourself, and creating a life that works for you and your family. For me, ATW has been a little lifeline, and I’m grateful for it every day.
