No one likes their time wasted in any aspect of life and certainly not when it comes to making money.
First of all, let's define a timewaster. Everyone has different opinions here. For some people, a timewaster is someone who enquires about an item and doesn't go through with an order. Personally, whilst this is frustrating, it's also a little harsh. For most guys here, it's like being a kid in a candy shop, whether they're a sock sniffer, a panty sniffer or just after an experience to get them off, they're going to be overwhelmed with messages and choice.
You can't blame them for looking around to find the perfect person to fulfil their desires. Some sellers would claim someone is a timewaster when they don't get back to them, but you've got to give a little flexibility. All Things Worn is an international platform, with users on different timezones. This sometimes causes delays in responses. People are also naturally busy people. While ATW is addictive and has become a form of social media in their own right, some people can go days without checking their messages.
With that being said, it's also frustrating when you get a little nibble and get excited about a potential sale and nothing comes of it. It's like these buyers are sensing you're going through a dry spell, get you all excited and then boom, they drop into your inbox.
For me, you've got 2 types here: a timewaster or a ghoster. I consider a timewaster to be someone that is on the site, with no intention of buying. A ghoster is someone that decided not to go ahead with a purchase. We're all guilty of this. Think about when you've tried to buy something online, it could be a new car that you've seen advertised on a marketplace, you message a few people to enquire. But you don't have time to tell everyone that you're not going ahead with a purchase. This doesn't necessarily mean you've wasted their time, you've just got them a little excited that they may sell their car, but you haven't said “yes, I want to take it. I'll be there at 5pm” and just not turn up. That is a timewaster!
If the first message is trying to take it offsite. “Hey babes, you on KIK?” It's a surefire way of them being a TW. Why do they need to take it offsite when they haven't even enquired about anything you have to offer? How to handle this situation? Either say “I'd rather chat on here', “I don't have KIK”, “I only give my KIK to genuine buyers” or just go straight for the block then they won't have the chance to waste any more of your time.
If they ask for a sample, they have no intention of buying, they're just trying to get their rocks off for free. How many other sellers are they messaging for the same thing? These types of buyers are normally just lurkers who just enjoy the eye candy for free (who can blame them?!). “If you give me a sample, I'll definitely buy”. No darling, it's NO PAY NO PLAY. Don't ever fall for this. If you've just given them content for free, why would they spend money when they've just got content for free?!
If this is the case, just say this is a service you normally charge for and give them your prices. If they're a timewaster, they'll soon realise that you're not playing ball and you probably won't hear from them again. If they're genuine then you may just get a sale out of it.
“Hey babes, I seek a loving and caring sugar baby to take care of in return for a generous $500 weekly allowance, contact me on KIK” Wow, who wouldn't like to earn $500 a week for basically doing nothing?! These guys are normally copying and pasting the same message to lots of other sellers. Once you take it to KIK, they normally get you to pay a “release fee”. Just don't even bother opening these messages. They'll soon have their accounts banned by the Admin Team here anyway.
Make your profile as detailed as possible. That way, buyers won't have to ask any unnecessary questions. Read this blog on how to create an enticing listing. If you're asked what you offer, you can direct them to your profile. You can also list up to 5 images for each listing. If you're listing well-worn shoes, take a picture of them being worn, a pic of the soles, a pic of the inside and then some other angles. If you're selling used panties, buyers like to see pics from different angles including the front and back. Seeing them being worn also adds to the fantasy. If you try to build a picture in the buyers' mind, they shouldn't need to ask for more images, and if they do, just refer them back to the listings.
If they've just joined the site, they could genuinely be trying to find their feet, but if they've been on the site for a while and they've got negative reviews, then they're unlikely to change their ways. Likewise, if they've got no reviews, give them the benefit of the doubt. They could be a little shy and unsure of how things work. Buyers, if you're new, read this blog on how to become a trusted & reliable Buyer.
Don't undersell yourself, you're worth more than that! If you're pricing your items too low, you're going to attract a different calibre of buyer and they're more likely to try their luck. Find a price that you're comfortable with and that shows your value. Don't be letting them pretty used thongs be going for $5, you're just going to get people expecting something for nothing.
Allow time for someone to get back to you. Some buyers have wives/partners that are unaware or unwilling to support their kinks or fetishes. They may have to wait until their on their own before they can discretely check their inbox.
If you've been caught out by any of these, don't worry, we've all been there!! But you'll soon come up with your own methods of seeking out the timewasters and you'll have more time to spend on those that are genuine. And remember, for all those that are considered timewasters, they are some lovely genuine buyers out there that make this a great community to be a part of.
Remember, NO PLAY BEFORE PAY!!
And always be kind. You could be talking to an experienced buyer of fetish items who is new to ATW and is finding his way around or someone who is completely new to indulging his fetishes and is a bit shy or anxious about exploring this further. Not everyone is a time-waster, it could just be lack of experience. We've all got to start somewhere!
