Selling online can be exciting, empowering and genuinely fun but staying safe should always come first. Whether you’re brand new to ATW or you’ve been selling for a while, protecting yourself is just as important as making sales.
Keep Your Personal Information Private
This is rule number one. Regardless of how long you’ve been in this sort of industry you should never feel pressured to share any sort of personal information about yourself like your phone number or personal social media accounts. Buyers only ever need enough information to enjoy your content and interact with you safely.
Use A Separate Email & Username
I personally find having dedicated accounts for selling is definitely something I would recommend so for example having a separate email address for the site and anything related to the site and even having separate payment accounts aside from your personal ones. For me these things definitely add that extra layer of protection and privacy which is so important.
Trust Your Gut With Buyers
If any point when interacting with a buyer you feel uncomfortable or they push your boundaries just block them and this applies to sellers as well from a buyers perspective no one should ever cross their boundaries they are there for a reason. It’s also important to remember part of staying safe is knowing red flags so this could be trying to get free content or asking for personal information.
Don’t Be Pressured Into Anything
One of the biggest lessons I could teach anyone is your allowed to say no. Please don’t ever make content you feel uncomfortable making just for the money it’s not worth it. This is why boundaries are in place.
Stay Smart With Shipping
These are some tips I have found helpful when staying safe with posting items. Always use tracked postage where you can, avoid revealing your home address especially on things like Amazon wishlists make sure you get your parcels sent to a local post office or locker for that added privacy.
All Things Worn can be a great platform to meet buyers, make money and express yourself but staying safe should always come first. Protect your identity and protect your boundaries. The best creators aren’t the ones who say yes to everything. They’re the ones who know their worth and know how to protect themselves while building their success.
