Firstly, let me preface this by saying being submissive doesn't mean you are weak. A good Sub is still allowed feelings and needs. You can't have a good Dom without being a good Sub.
Being Submissive is a choice, you are comfortable consenting giving up control. Allowing your Dom to lead the way, having full trust in his guidance and allowing yourself to embrace the experience when he makes you feel safe and seen.
What qualities do you need to be a good sub?
Receptivity is key, a willingness to follow guidance from your Dom and be fully present in the experience
Honesty is vital for yourself and your partner. If things aren't working or making you tick - speak up, explore something different
Courage. In some cases, the most Submissive thing you can do is be scared and do it anyway, trust in your partner that although he is an Alpha, a dominant being, he still wants to please you. Feeling the butterflies and choosing to submit anyway is powerful and will add to the experience
Respect. His time is precious and being dominant takes a lot of energy and thought. Follow the protocols you have agreed to and respect their boundaries
Communication. Don't get swept away with sensation, communicate to your Dom your boundaries, trust in them to be open about what you are willing to do, what you want to try. Be open about their boundaries and wants as well. This kind of mutual understanding is essential. Find a Dom who cares about your emotional needs as well as your sexual needs. Speak openly, make a joke if you have to but be clear on what you are happy with. Create a safe word together or a pre-agreed signal. This way, even in the moment your trust and safety will build rapidly.
Consistency. Sexy in its own way. Being reliable and steady will build more trust over time. Imagine being a Dom and knowing your Submissive will deliver every time. This can give your Dom confidence that you are serious about being their Submissive. Being Submissive for me isn't just 'doing as I'm told'. It's a powerful, confident statement of "I am committed to you, this dynamic and my role, you can count on me"
A good Submissive will not only be submissive in the bedroom, they will uphold all these qualities in day to day life as well. Respect your Dom, communicate calmly and be consistent, not crossing boundaries and fulfilling his every need.
Learn his habits and his routines, whether that is preparing his gym drink or allowing him to take complete control of you and your body. Dedicate yourself to him and he will deliver in ten fold
This dynamic needs two active participants in order for it to work. Both holding power, the Dom being the guidance and having confidence in doing so, the Sub holding power in every heart beating yes.
