It was a typical visit with a friend of mine. I walked in, kicked off my Hey Dude sneakers and sat down on the couch. I watched as my friend curiously checked out my worn sneakers sitting there by her door, inspecting the soles and the general damage from wear. She picked them up and gave them a sniff, which I thought was extremely odd. She scrunched up her nose in disgust and then grinned at me, hardly containing her giggling.
"You could sell these." she said. I looked at her confused, what did she mean? The most I had ever done with shoes that worn was pitch them, there's no way someone wanted these disgusting old sneakers. "Trust me, everything has a price." She explained. She then went on to introduce me to a magical place called All Things Worn. She was making money on the side selling all kinds of worn items. The more worn the better. And she was having a blast doing it. I was astounded, and undeniably intrigued. Could this really be true? Curious, I pulled up the site. Suddenly my eyes are flooded with dirty socks and gussets galore, the dashboard soaring by as I furiously scroll through, hungry for more information about this new world. I'm fascinated. My friend excitedly told me about all of the ins and outs, from vacuum sealing to time wasters, to hurling insults at losers for their pleasure.
"Don't get too excited though, it isn't easy work. Have you ever tried to take a picture of your own booty hole? Not easy!" She laughed. And she was right, I had never tried anything like this in my life. I've been a performer all my life, but this was a different kind of performance I wasn't sure I could truly take the dive into. I told her I would think about it. And think about it, I did.
A few weeks later I found myself back on the site. Fine, I'll make an account. But just to take a look. I found myself endlessly scrolling the dashboard, fascinated with all of the creative ways sellers have found to market their worn items. Being a performer, I knew I could take a decent photo. Maybe I could be good at this. I studied the profiles of top sellers, trying to understand this whole new world of panties and playthings.
Digging through my shoe closet, I start snapping photos. I had a boyfriend years ago who had a foot fetish, and taking what I knew from that, I ran headfirst into All Things Worn.
Making my first sale surprised me, but what really surprised me was how much fun I had making it. The excitement of waiting for those little red dots, getting all dressed up to take s**y pictures, coming up with new and creative ideas to catch buyers' attention. I was having an absolute blast. I was having so much fun I decided to get my partner involved. Skeptical at first, but seeing how much fun I was having, he decided to sign up. Now we have fun on ATW together. Not only has it brought us closer as a couple, but it's opened up our horizons to explore new things both s**ually and in life.
Not only do I have ATW to thank for a new stream of income, but also a new stream of consciousness. I've found a new love for my body as I photograph it from angles I previously would have never thought of. I've found a love for my natural scents that I was ashamed of before. I've found a power in my s**uality that I never had. Seeing women of all shapes and sizes worshipped for being the Goddesses that they are, made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I felt at home. The community is so welcoming, it's hard not to feel the love.
As I make my way through my ATW journey, I realize that my friend was right, it's not easy work. If it were easy, everyone would do it. Like any hustle, success comes from good old fashioned hard work. Don't start this journey thinking it's all sunshine and panties. There are challenges and setbacks like with any job. Sometimes my ring light dies in the middle of a photoshoot, and what a pain in the a**! Sometimes my time is wasted. Sometimes I wonder why I started selling panties at all. But then one of those 5-star reviews comes in and I remember, there is Power in Panties.
These days you'll seldom find me doing anything in my free time that isn't ATW related. I'll talk about it to anyone who will listen. "You could sell those..." I think to myself as my friend removes her stinky shoes.
