How to Stay Safe When Selling & Buying Used Items Online

With more users, both buying and selling online on All Things Worn and Male Things Worn, user safety is a top priority. From how to keep yourself anonymous, to spotting undesirable sellers/buyers, everyone on here wants to have fun and keep safe. Read on for a short guide on how to keep safe and have fun whilst buying and selling on ATW/MTW.

Stay Anonymous

The best way to remain safe in an online space, for both buyers and sellers is to keep your identity anonymous, especially if you are not wanting family, friends, coworkers or other people knowing who you are and what you are doing in adult online. Don’t show your face, any identifying tattoos, or landmarks. If you are not wanting to let people know who you are, make your username one that no one else would ever tie back to you, but still shows what you are wanting to buy/sell.

Choose your Comfort Level

For new sellers on the site, it becomes very exciting wanting to offer everything and anything, but be careful. Have a think about what exactly you are comfortable selling and offering to buyers and don’t offer something that you are not 100% happy with. If you are only comfortable offering digital content, then don’t offer to sell used clothing. If you only want to sell your used panties, dirty socks or well-worn shoes, make this clear on your profile so that buyers don’t ask for images/videos. You can select on your profile what you offer to make this clearer to buyers.

Buyers should also list what they are comfortable buying so they don’t feel overwhelmed or pressured into purchasing things they aren’t exactly wanting. Buyers can select what they are looking for on their profile, which can help strike up a conversation and hopefully lead to a pleasant experience.

Remember, you are in control of what you sell/buy.

Check the Reviews

Always check a buyer/sellers reviews, especially if you are new and starting out. It will help you gauge a view on how other users on the site have experienced that buyer/seller. If they are consistently getting 5-star reviews, then they are more likely than not a very reliable person, but if they are sitting with lots of 1 or 2-star reviews then perhaps take caution and be a bit warier.

Adults Only

The most obvious, but most important rule for using adult selling platforms such as ATW/MTW is to be over the age of 18 to be both a buyer and a seller. It may seem exciting for teens to come on to try and make some money, or buy some naughty things, but it is so dangerous for both parties to do so. If you believe that a buyer/seller is under the age of 18 please message the Admin Team and allow them to do their checks.

Be Polite

Being understanding and polite to both buyers and sellers is so important to be able to stay safe and comfortable on a platform such as ATW/MTW. A rude buyer who is harassing and demanding can make sellers feel unsafe and uncomfortable, and may cause sellers to leave the site, and vice versa. Don’t be pushy, overwhelming, rude, harassing, or degrading (unless it is consented beforehand).

Stay on Site/Online

If a buyer/seller demands you only talk to them off ATW/MTW be wary, and always question it. The message system is there to keep you safe and also have a paper trail if you have a need to go to the Admin Team, as well as messages being monitored.

If a buyer/seller asks to meet up for sales, always say no, and never agree to things. Report live meet up requests to the Admin Team, as it is always a danger to meet up with buyers/sellers you do not know personally in real life to do meetups or exchanges. Keep all sales to online and on the website to stay safe.

Always use the Order Management System to record your sales on ATW/MTW to keep track of your orders. This lets you know what sales you have completed, cancelled, and are still to complete.

Don’t carry out sales off the website without making a sales page on ATW/MTW so if anything goes wrong you have proof that you sold/sent the item.

If in Doubt Reach Out

If any buyer/seller has any doubts about another buyer/seller then if it is safe to do so, question the person with the doubts or queries you have. If you still don’t get the response or don’t feel comfortable with confronting a user, always reach out to the Admin Team. They are here to help you have the most enjoyable and safe time on the website.

Are there any other ideas or hints you can think of for users to feel comfortable and safe? Let us know and help keep the community safe. We are all here for a good time, so we should all feel safe as well. And remember that your Admin Team are here to help you as well, so be polite and reach out to them if you need.
