It’s not a race to the top.
I remember signing up over two years ago for All Things Worn, the site hadn’t been up and running very long, it was amazing, I immediately felt part of something. A small tight knit community all here for the same thing, no judgement and so many gorgeous people all in one place. We were all learning together and finding our place.
After a few weeks I started to gain momentum, I was going from strength to strength with my sales and before I knew it I was in number one spot on the rankings page, I was so excited by this! The following day I was number two and I was gutted, what could I have done wrong? What does the seller in number one spot have that I don’t? Is she offering it at a lower price? Maybe I overcharge? I worked my butt off, sometimes underselling myself, letting buyers barter my prices for that extra review, in the hopes I’d move up a spot in the rankings. Being number one was my main goal and I can admit that now! It was new and it was exciting and who doesn’t want to be number one?!
I spent months at number one because I let it consume me. I was here every day, never taking time to just be away from it for a moment and it definitely took over my life for a little while.
It is so important you have time for yourself still because doing this 24/7 can become intense and we all need time to ourselves. Even just an hour here and there. What made it harder for me was that I joined when we first went into lockdown and nobody was allowed out, so it’s all I could do! It is so easy for sellers to become obsessed with the rankings, you see it all the time. Sometimes this need to be number one results in underselling yourself. Maybe doing a sale you wouldn’t normally do. I have done this too.
The ranking system is fun, of course, but it isn’t everything. It’s great for exposure and being seen but if you are active on the dash and get involved it really doesn’t matter where you are in the rankings. There is more to this then that, right?!
I took some time out, I needed a breather and came back with a fresh look on everything, it’s not a race to the top, we are all here to have fun, we can support each other and lift each other up. We have good days and bad days but we are all in it together. Not everyone will have your back, of course, I’m under no illusion you all shit rainbows and emanate sunshine but for the most part this site is full of good, amazing people, I can genuinely say I have made friends for life here who are a huge part of my world now.
All Things Worn has grown and is thriving, so many gorgeous sellers and so many buyers joining every day. I used to be a pusher, I totally was, messaging every single new sign up in the beginning! That’s not attractive! Don’t push for sales, they will come, when you are suited with someone. And if you don’t get a sale today but tootsiepooXo got five, so what?! Go tootsiepooXo!
You won’t be for everyone, you might not offer what it is they are looking for, this is a kink site. You might not be Jim’s cup of tea, but you will be Dan’s perfect seller. Wait for a Dan, don’t push Jim!What is most important is that you are doing this for the right reasons and you are having fun along the way and that everything you do you feel fully comfortable doing. It’s not about the quantity of sales you get, I’ve seen some posts where sellers are selling their knickers for less than it would cost them to post them. It is about the quality of the item you are sending, whether that be a video or a pair of knickers, whatever it may be. Please don’t undersell yourself to get quick ratings or quick sales, I have done it myself in the beginning when I was a rankings hoe.
