Hi, I am Porcelain: Your neighborhood pagan practitioner. I want to tell you a bit about how and why I chose to use these practices in my personal life/craft.

I have always been quite reserved and I was sexually active at a young age. But honestly, it was just that - plain old vanilla sex. The community I lived amongst as a youth was harshly bible driven. So even if my family didn’t hold those ideas or standards around sex, most of my friends and their families certainly did.

I always felt judged, or as if I couldn't freely express myself, even to people I ultimately trusted. I ended up having a child before I had ever even masturbated. After moving away and exploring more of myself, I wanted to feel empowered so I began my search for answers.

I stumbled into things most of us have heard of: like Kama Sutra, tantric sex, and whatnot. But the huge discovery for me was learning to love myself and embrace my inner goddess. I am no expert, but I am more than happy to share my personal journey and insights.

Learning to appreciate my body (and that I had such amazing energy just lurking beneath the surface) truly helped me embrace my sexuality as something to be proud of. Not something to be ashamed or fearful of. Seeing myself in new ways gave me liberation from all the old constraining beliefs I had originally had.

Without sex magick in my life, I don’t think I would have ever found All Things Worn or the kink community. And I am so grateful that I did. Everyone's personal practise of these ancient arts and techniques will vary to how they feel comfortable or perceive the information, but here is a simple run down to explain some of what I use in my own practice.

What is sex magick?

Sex magick has long been used in many cultures to connect to the feminine divine: The goddess. But it also focuses on using your sexual energy with intention; harnessing that sexual energy to empower yourself and manifest your deepest desires. This can be practised alone, with a partner, or even in group settings. Sex magick doesn’t even have to include actual sex. Just the energy you conjure from it. Over time, with practices like edging, you can learn to master and utilize this energy. This energy is believed to be the bringer of life and the destroyer of life as the yoni expands and contracts.

What is kundalini?

Kundalini is the core of your personal power. It’s the energy that resides in the sacrum(The sacrum is the triangular bone just below the lumbar vertebrae. ... In the months before birth, these vertebrae grow together into one bone that forms the base of the spine and the center of the pelvis. This triangular bone fits between the two halves of the pelvis, connecting the spine to the lower half of the body) . We often hold deep tension and emotional trauma in our sacrum. Awakening the Kundalini can help you overcome some of these issues.

Often depicted as the snake that coils up the spine in a DNA pattern and as being released through the crown of your head, Kundalini is actually one of the lower energies we can access, as it sits coiled at the base of the spine. When we use it consciously we can disprove our old limiting beliefs, get rid of deep tensions, and help us to expand into our most confident selves.

Learning to harness and use Kundalini energy can help you with relationships, self-love, self-expression, channelling, creating, manifesting, and so much more. Awakening Kundalini can include practices like breathwork, edging, controlling and directing orgasms, meditations, sensual touching...etc.

What is tantra?

Tan means expansion; Tra means liberation.

Often considered a spiritual science, tantra is explained as expanding your consciousness to reach liberation. This is the goal of meditation. Tantra recognizes that in order for a unit of consciousness to expand and become one with divine source consciousness, there will be struggle. This is the truth. Tantra in Western culture has been simplified down to sex to but it is much more than that. It is utilizing that energy and gained awareness through struggle to become more godlike or divine.

There are many forms of tantra. There are Eastern and Western practices of Tantra. The popular sexualization of tantra is known as Neo-Tantra. In more traditional tantra you will find practices such as meditation, visualization, and Mantra.

A Mantra is a sacred utterance, a numinous sound, a syllable, believed by practitioners to have religious, magickal or spiritual powers. Some mantras have a syntactic structure and literal meaning, while others do not. Each person will connect to tantra in their own way and find what suits them best. The goal of meditation isn’t to empty the mind, it’s learning to quiet and evaluate your own inner critic.

In turn with learning to find mental peace you can then be more fully in the moment and present in life. Are you fully present during sex? Do you let the mind wander? Are you focused on the sounds, the breathing, the primal nature? Are you in tune? Do you savor every sensation? Learning to bring awareness to your sex practice can be incredibly powerful.
