Starting out as an adult content seller can feel exciting, intimidating, empowering, and confusing all at once. I’ve just finished my first month, and while I’m definitely still learning, I wanted to share a few things that helped me get through those early weeks. When you’re new, everything is fresh and sometimes overwhelming, so I hope this helps anyone who’s just starting their journey.
The biggest thing I’ve learned is to stay true to yourself. Don’t do something if you’re uncomfortable with it — the money simply isn’t worth it.
Adult content is incredibly intimate, and if you’re not comfortable with what you’re creating, it shows. Not only does it affect you personally, but it can also affect the experience for the buyer. Being genuine makes such a difference. When someone buys content from you, they’re not just buying a video or a photo — they’re buying a connection, a vibe, and an experience.
If you’re only doing something for the money and it doesn’t feel right, that energy comes across. Staying authentic benefits everyone involved. You feel better about your work, and the buyer gets something that feels real and enjoyable.
So my biggest tip here: set your boundaries early and stick to them.
This industry can be hard work, especially when you’re trying to make even a small amount of money. I completely understand why some sellers become very transactional and try to get straight to the selling point.
But in my experience so far, taking a little time to get to know buyers can make a huge difference. At the end of the day, they’re human just like we are. In many cases they’re spending a decent amount of their hard-earned money, and feeling acknowledged or appreciated can make the whole interaction more enjoyable for them.
However — and this is important — don’t let your kindness be taken advantage of.
I’ve definitely found myself in a couple of tricky situations where buyers expected freebies simply because I was friendly or willing to chat. It’s a learning curve. Being kind and personable is great, but remember that your time also has value.
If someone wants everything for free, they’re probably not the kind of buyer you want anyway.
If you’re new and feeling discouraged because you’re not making loads of money straight away, please know you’re not alone.
It’s very easy to compare yourself to other sellers — especially when you see so many beautiful and successful creators. I definitely had moments where I questioned myself and wondered if I should be making different kinds of content or changing what I was doing.
But what I’ve realised is that there really is an audience for everyone.
By sticking to my boundaries and staying genuine, I’ve started to find buyers who enjoy what I offer and who keep coming back. Those connections make the experience so much more rewarding.
Another thing I’ve learned: don’t be afraid to approach people. Don’t just sit back and expect buyers to come to you. Remember that if you simply like someone’s post, you’re one of many doing the same thing. Be confident, introduce yourself, and put yourself out there.
This is your space — own it.
Lastly, I just want to say thank you to the sellers and buyers who have helped me during my first month. Whether it was direct advice, patience while I figured out my “first times” with certain types of content, or simply inspirational posts and blogs on the dashboard — it really does help.
This community works best when we support each other.
Let’s keep being kind to both sellers and buyers alike, and hopefully we can all get what we’re looking for from this space.
Good luck to anyone just starting out — you’ve got this.
